Holiday Lamplight Tours
December 4, 2010
3:00 to 8:00pm
During Clock Tower Holidays, the historic homes are beautifully decorated in seasonal splendor. On the special night of Holiday Lamplight Tours, visitors take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon and see the soft glow of lanterns throughout the village. Costumed villagers welcome visitors to the homes and business, and take visitors back to a simpler era when family and friends gathered together to celebrate this special time of year. In the Bandstand Green, local entertainers provide a magnificent array of holiday music for your enjoyment. There will also be organ music in St. John’s Episcopal Mission, a hand-bell choir at the Woody General Store, and piano music in the Howell House. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children; members price $5 for adults and $3 for children. Advanced sale tickets are available, and group rates for 20 or more can also be arranged in advance. Refreshments and carriage rides are an additional fee.

Kern County Pirates Privateers
Based in Bakersfield California, we teach, live and recreate the Golden Age of Pyracy. Swift camps, sail crews to sewing, wood carving to chart making, we are a group of craftsmen of all things Nautical. If we can't find it, we make it, if we can find it, we buy one and then make the rest ourselves. We are always on the look out for Sailors so send us an email to find out how to join.

Tis the pirate season!
Ojai Pirate Faire is here! Ojai pirate faire 2010, we'll be setting up camp with our friends Alliance of the double cross and spending the weekend drinking rum and stealing, plundering and looting whatever we so desire. If you want to find us at the faire, we are down at the waters edge at "Blackbeards landing" just look for the double cross flag or our flag which is of course the hourglass flying over bones! Or just look for buckle shoes and thats us.
Also ahead is The Kern County Museum Safe Halloween 2010. This event is our favorite and we will be in full force. Execution Docks, The Thames river and of course our whole pirate encampment will be open for everyone to dare to stroll through. You can visit the Kern County Museum for more details and where and how to purchase tickets to this annual event where our Pioneer village is turned into a magical Halloween town. It's safe, educational and it's the longest running Halloween event in Bakersfield. Now if they would just let us blow off our cannons!

Bakersfield Safe Halloween at Kern County Museum
What a whirlwind! This year we created the Thames river with the wapping docks and hanged pyrates to boot! We had an awsome time, I'm not sure of the count, but there had to have been at least 3500 people each night.. Penelope and Heather did an awsome job this year with the Bakersfield Safe Halloween, they really out did themselves.. A very much needed thank you goes out to Mission Family Mortuary in Bakersfield for sponsoring the trick or treat station. We couldn't have done it without Mission Family! In other news...We payed a visit to St. Francis School and raided the 6th grade class of Mrs Bowman..The kids were awsome and had a ton of questions. Rolled one of the cannons into the class room and the kids went crazy! While we were in class I just sorta looked down at all the knives, cutlasses, muskets and pistols thinking to myself, This wouldn't happen in a public school.. Kenneth.

Holy Mary!
It's been a while since an update! We have a few new crew members, taken the skiff out countless times and we now have cannons! Two to be exact. We have Ojai Pirate Faire coming in Sept 2009 and the Kern County Museum Bakersfield safe halloween 2009 on the horizon. Lamplight to follow. Speaking of lamplight, we have been making our own lanterns as of late and they look very nice. So far Bakersfield has been giving us a few people at a time, but it is better to grow slow, right!? If you're interested in joing the Bakersfield Pirate group, Kern county pirate guild, please contact us so we can get you started. We have a lot of fun and we really enjoy reenacting history. Click on the thumb for a great view of the back of our new toys!
